General Questions
What is a design/remodel firm?
When you’re ready to renovate your home, you can hire a designer to create the design and then hire a contractor to execute it. When you hire a design/remodel firm, like Hatchett, our team handles everything from start to finish.
Over the past 60 years, we have perfected our design remodel process to be stress-free and fun. To avoid setbacks from miscommunication, Hatchett assigns a project manager to each and every project, from start to finish. The project manager’s job is to communicate with our clients daily, answer any questions or concerns, set expectations, review the project, and much more.
The benefits of this approach include lower costs, improved communication, fewer change orders, and faster project completion. We recommend the design/remodel option for anyone hoping for a streamlined home remodeling project.
How much should I budget for my home remodeling project?
Each project is completely unique, from the existing structure, the size of the project, and what your needs and wants are. Remodeling Magazine’s Cost versus Value Report is a great reference when considering budget expectations for home remodeling projects. We also have a few general estimates on our Why Hatchett Design Remodel page.

Do you offer special financing?
We offer special financing through GreenSky™. To learn more about your financing options, we suggest you schedule a free consultation so we can discuss your project and options.
Do I have to submit construction permits?
Absolutely not! The beauty of hiring a design/remodel firm is that we handle all permits for you.
Will there be a big mess during construction?
Construction is messy, dirty, and dusty. Before it is beautiful, it is a construction zone. However, we respect your property by laying down site protection, dust barriers and cleaning the workspace and traffic areas daily.
Work began after they sealed off the kitchen with plastic to help keep the dust from the rest of the house. Each evening the kitchen was swept and neat. When the project was done we were FLOORED!
