Hatchett Design Remodel is happy to announce the newest designer to join our team. Welcome, Katie!
Katie earned her degree from Virginia Commonwealth University’s Fine Arts Interior Design program, and she has 20 years of experience as an interior designer.
Before joining our team, Katie worked for the Dragas Companies, a local home builder in Hampton Roads. Katie’s responsibilities covered all facets of new construction from plans and specs to designing their model homes & community centers. Before Dragas, Katie lived in Annapolis, MD for 8 years and worked for a large design firm where she specialized in model homes and high-end residential design.
Katie puts remodeling expertise to work in her own home, like this bathroom.
She’s excited to bring her passion, experience and knowledge of interior design to her new clients at Hatchett. To help you get to know Katie, we asked her a few questions.
How did you become a part of the Hatchett team?
I was looking for a new job and was excited to see that Hatchett had an opening. At my first interview, I felt like I immediately connected with Jessica & Meghan. In addition to wanting to hear about my work experience, they were genuinely interested in getting to know me. They made me feel very comfortable, and I just knew that they would be great people to work with.
Why do you think Hatchett is a good fit for you, Katie?
I love being an Interior Designer. I thoroughly enjoy the challenge of improving a space and really making a difference in how my clients enjoy their homes & their lives… and the people at Hatchett share that feeling. The Hatchett team takes on projects of all shapes and sizes, and no detail is overlooked in bringing our client’s projects to life.
What is your favorite thing about working at Hatchett?
As a people person, I love the interaction with my new coworkers as well as my clients. No day is ever the same, and that’s perfect for me. The company culture is warm and friendly, so I really enjoy my work day. I also love the flexibility it gives me to maintain a good work life balance.
What do you like to do when you’re not working?
I currently live in Virginia Beach with my ten year old son, Blake, and our Shi-Poo, Zoe. We’re fortunate to have a big family who all live locally in Hampton Roads, so we spend as much time as we can with them. In my free time, I also enjoy cheering for Blake at his games, planning my next home project for my own home or just spending a beautiful day at the beach.
