Tara, born and raised in Iowa, graduated from Iowa State University in 2014 with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Interior Design and a Minor in Event Management. Prior to Hatchett, she worked for a company in Chicago for 3 years in the commercial design industry designing small spec suites to large scale office spaces. Eventually her boyfriend’s job brought them to Virginia Beach. As she began job searching online, she discovered Hatchett Design Remodel and was immediately drawn to the company. Tara believes that Interior Design is not just physical but emotional as well. It is an experience that engages all the senses. Interior Design is a way to improve someone’s quality of life, and when she can do that she feels she has done her job.
To Help you get to know Tara a little better, we asked her a few questions:
How did you become part of the Hatchett team?
When I found out my boyfriend and I would be moving to Virginia Beach I started searching online for residential design companies in the area. I came across Hatchett Design Remodel and was very impressed with their values and the beautiful work they were producing. I knew very quickly I wanted to be a part of the team. Coincidently about a week later I saw they had a job posting for an Interior Designer. I immediately applied, and after a few interviews, I got the job! Timing is everything!
What is your favorite thing about working at Hatchett?
I would have to say the Hatchett team. You can work anywhere, but it’s the people you work with that really make the difference. Having a work environment to come to everyday that feels family-like, comfortable, and fun is very important to me, and I feel the people here at Hatchett make all those things possible.
What do you like to do when you’re not working?
I enjoy spending time with family and friends, traveling, cooking, and staying active. My boyfriend and our pup love going on walks and exploring the beautiful scenery Virginia has to offer. Sunday brunch is also a favorite of ours. I love French toast and a good cup of coffee!
