Kitchen Remodel for the Stouts

February 22, 2019

You don’t have to completely hate your kitchen before you decide to remodel it. Many clients hire Hatchett to simply update their out-of-date spaces. The Stouts, for example, were very happy with the layout and color scheme of their old kitchen.

Hatchett Design Remodel’s task was merely to freshen up the space and improve its functionality.

The Stouts love to cook, so work space and storage were top priorities in Jessica’s design. She recommended replacing their closet pantry and the desk area by the fridge with built-ins. Next to the range, we added a built-in wall oven and microwave. Then around the refrigerator, we installed built-in pantry cabinets.

Their frameless, full access cabinets are by Ultracraft. They chose Saddle Stain oak cabinetry with the Shaker Wide door style. The interior of their cabinets include a variety of special features including adjustable shelves, mop & broom storage, tray dividers, pull out shelving, and 2 double trash bases. They use one double trash cabinet for trash & recycling, and the other one is, most importantly, for dog food.

Their pulls are by Top Knobs. They opted for the Charlotte style in brushed satin nickel, which is a beautiful complement to the rich Saddle Stain.

Tile Backsplash

The counter tops are New Caledonia granite. Instead of installing a matching granite backsplash, we created their backsplash with 3×6 porcelain subway tiles. We laid the soft gris tiles from Mosaic Tile in a herringbone pattern for added character in this beautiful new kitchen.

The Stouts already had hard wood floors in their kitchen, so we only needed to refinish them. The end result of this remodel is a warm, inviting up-to-date space where the Stouts can enjoy cooking for their friends and family for years to come.
