Mr. and Mrs. Horton recently purchased a condo in Chesapeake that was almost everything they wanted. Before they moved in, the Hortons hired Hatchett Design Remodel to put the dreamy in their new dream home.
Rethinking the Floor PlanOne of the bigger construction goals of this remodel required widening the entryway between the family room and the kitchen to create an open concept. This also created floor space for a larger, more useful kitchen island.
To make the space more functional, they also opted to replace the French doors from the kitchen to the deck with pantry cabinets and a wet bar. There’s another door to access the deck from the family room, so this wasn’t a tough call for them.
Material SelectionsThe Hortons visited our showroom in Virginia Beach to make their material selections. They chose Midcontinent shaker style kitchen cabinets painted Divinity White as well as several bonus accessories. These beautiful cabinets are outfitted with wonderful features such as hidden trash can pull outs, spice pull outs, tray dividers, deep pot & pan drawers and roll trays.
They originally selected a mosaic tile backsplash, but we wound up going with the classic simplicity of subway tile for a cleaner look.
The counters are topped with Fantasy Brown Granite. To complement the color scheme of the granite, we selected hardware and plumbing fixtures in brushed nickel. The finished project is stunning, and the Hortons couldn’t be happier with their new kitchen. That makes us happy too! Kudos to our design team led by Jake (Design Consultant), Tara (Designer) and Dennis (Project Manager). Ready to remodel your kitchen? Now’s a good time! |
