Hasty Kitchen Remodel

October 12, 2018

Mrs. Hasty waited over 20 years to remodel her kitchen, but it was well worth her wait!  The Hastys new kitchen is yet another beautiful job by Hatchett’s design team lead by Kevin, Remodeling Consultant; Ashley, Designer; and Kent, Project Manager.

Initial Consultation
During our initial consultation, Mrs. Hasty told us that she loved her kitchen peninsula, because “it keeps people out of my workspace.” She said she was open to an island layout, but Ashley knew it would be a hard sell.

Floor Plan
While some kitchens work quite well with a peninsula, others are better served by an island. Ashley felt this was the case for the Hasty kitchen, so she drafted her plan around an island. When Mrs. Hasty saw the new design, she fell in love with it!
Hasty Kitchen AFTER
The new design moved the refrigerator out of its awkward position in the back corner while relocating it to the space beside the eat-in area. Ashley’s concept put the second oven and microwave in that back corner where the fridge used to be, because those are items Mrs. Hasty rarely uses. Mrs. Hasty agreed this would be a much more efficient use of the space, and she adored the look of the design!

Material Selections

We included stacked 48″ cabinets to the ceiling. Ashley is particular proud of the perfect symmetry we achieved on the back wall with Ultracraft’s cabinet modification options.

Her Ultracraft cabinets with Boston raised panel doors include deep drawers that are great for cookware. They also have tray base cabinets on either side of the range for maximum storage. The drawers have Top Knobs reeded pulls while the doors have complementing knobs.

The base cabinets are topped with Atlantic Calacutta quartz countertops. The backsplash tile is SomerTile Beveled Arabesque from Mosaic Tile, and we use Silverado Gray grout for contrast.

The Kohler Artifacts bridge faucet with its vibrant stainless finish pairs beautifully with Mrs. Hasty’s new Kohler Vault farm sink.

She chose all new GE appliances from Ferguson, and she wanted all of the downstairs flooring replaced as well. Ashley recommended Eastern Hardwood’s 5″ Portland hand-scraped birch caramel planks from Dominion Flooring, and they are stunning!

Our entire team thoroughly enjoyed working with Mrs. Hasty, and we’re thrilled that she’s so in love with her new kitchen.

While it was worth her wait, there’s no need to wait 20 years to remodel your kitchen. Hatchett Design Remodel offers financing options, so call or come by our showrooms in Newport News and Virginia Beach. We’d be happy to answer any questions you may have… it costs nothing to ask!
