Gamache Kitchen Remodel

September 28, 2018

Mr. and Mrs. Gamache moved into their mother’s home several years ago. They loved the location, view of the golf course and sentimental value of the home, but the house itself left a little to be desired. The kitchen, in particular, was cramped and inefficient.

Rooms throughout the house were in dire need of updating, so the Gamaches hired Hatchett Design Remodel to transform this old house into their dream home.

Demo Day
After our initial consultation, Jessica designed the plans and helped the Gamaches select the materials for their new kitchen. Then the real fun began… Demo Day! The Gamaches wanted in on the action, so the missus took a couple good whacks to say “good-bye and good riddance” to their old kitchen.

Customizing The Kitchen
They were both happy to see the old stuff go. They love to cook and entertain, so they couldn’t wait for our team to make-over their kitchen. Jessica’s design tripled the size of the kitchen by removing a few walls. She also added large windows across the back of the house, so that the Gamaches can fully enjoy their beautiful view. Their new, open-concept kitchen provides ample space for food prep, cooking, baking, gathering, eating and storage!
Their Mid Continent cabinets are cherry with the firestone stain and black glaze. The rich tone of the cabinets is complemented by the softer tones of the Silestone Lyra Quartz countertops and Mineral Stix Mosaic Tile backsplash. We selected stainless steel pulls from Top Knobs‘ Griggs collection as a nice contrast to the dark cabinets.

We plumbed the sink into the island, so it is across from the cooktop. It’s a Prolific Sink by Kohler with a Moen Arbor MotionSense pull-down faucet in stainless steel to match the cabinet hardware.

With such a large, open-concept kitchen, Jessica recommended these Fulton pendant lights by Hinkley to help fill the space. While they are large statement pieces, the airy quality of the design keeps them from looking cumbersome.

The appliances were a very important part of this renovation. These avid cooks chose a Thermador wall oven with a built-in microwave along with a Thermador induction cooktop. The chimney hood and dishwasher are also by Thermador, but they opted for a French door refrigerator made by KitchenAide.

The Remodeling Experience with Hatchett

When we finished this project, we asked the Gamaches for feedback about their remodeling experience with Hatchett.

What’s your favorite part of your remodeled kitchen?

My favorite would have to be the island, but it’s a hard choice! The lights are awesome and the induction stove top…cooking is so easy. We also love the appliance garages, the drawer organizers and the sink. So I guess I just love it all!

Why did you choose Hatchett to remodel your kitchen?

We chose Hatchett, because we were so impressed with the renovations you did to our last house back in 1987.

What did you enjoy about the remodeling process?

Our favorite part of the process was watching the design take shape!

What would you change about your kitchen remodel?

Not a thing!

What advice do you have for anyone planning to remodel?

Our advice to others would be to be careful about whom you hire to work on your house! Hatchett’s team helped us through every step of the process. They made what could have been a difficult, stressful process much easier! We trusted them to do the job right, and they consistently exceeded our expectations!

Left to Right: Tommy, Jessica, Michael, Mr. & Mrs. Gamache

Well done, Michael, Jessica, Tommy and the whole crew… and a special thanks to the Gamaches! We always enjoy working with y’all!
