Bourke Kitchen Remodel

October 15, 2020

The Bourke kitchen remodel is a stunning example of how Hatchett Design Remodel can give your kitchen a completely new look without changing the footprint of the space.

We transformed the kitchen in the Bourkes’ Norfolk home by updating the cabinets, countertops, backsplash, and appliances. We also added a kitchen island and various types of cabinetry that increase their storage space without the need for more square footage. A great deal of attention to detail went into thoughtfully selecting custom cabinets that fit their existing footprint and new appliances.

The Cabinetry

They chose Starmark cabinets that are far more functional than their original cabinets. The new cabinets provide a beautiful new aesthetic that is both classic and fresh. The Bourkes fell in love with the inset cabinetry displayed in our Virginia Beach showroom and knew they had to have it. The inset doors on the cabinets give this kitchen a seamless look, and we even carried the cabinet door panels onto the fridge and dishwasher for a overall streamlined design.

Tile Backsplash & Countertops

The tile backsplash is a light greige subway tile that provides contrast to the Peppercorn paint on the cabinets. We laid the tile in a herringbone pattern for added visual interest. The Valle Nevado granite countertops pull the entire neutral palette together with flecks of white, gray, and tan.

Teamwork

The start of this remodel happened right as Covid-19 hit. Our team worked diligently and safely to continue construction through it all. Fortunately, the only delay we encountered was about two weeks for the cabinet delivery, because the plant was shut down for a short period of time. We appreciated the Bourkes’ patience as we found our way through each new challenge. In every meeting we had with them, there were endless smiles and laughter. We are very appreciative of their patience, and we are thrilled that they are so happy with the end result. They are so happy with how everything turned out and are excited to have friends and family over to see their beautiful new kitchen.

Kudos to our design team – Tara (Designer), Michael (Design Consultant) and Tommy (Project Manager) – for a job very well done!

Our team also renovated the Bourkes’ master bathroom. Stay tuned… we will share that project soon! If you’d like to see how Hatchett can transform your home – kitchen, bath, home office, addition or sunroom – give us a call or visit our showrooms in Newport News and Virginia Beach. We’d be happy to set up an in-person or virtual consultation to discuss your home remodel. Remember, it costs nothing to ask!
