Hatchett's Proven Kitchen Remodeling Process
Getting It Right
Every client has unique functional, aesthetic, and budget needs. The right solution is customized to address individual requirements and truly fit each client's lifestyle.
- Hatchett designers work closely with our clients during the iterative Design phase to ensure that the design and selection fit the client's needs.
- During the important Pre-Construction phase, the Project Manager and Designer overlap to make sure that the design and selections meet squarely with construction reality.
- All items are ordered at the end of the Pre-Construction phase.
And Minimizing Disruption
Most clients live in their homes while their remodeling project is underway. Hatchett is extremely sensitive to the disruption that a remodeling project can create. Years of experience have served us well. We take several steps to make sure the process is as minimally disruptive, and yes - as pleasant as possible!
- Construction doesn't begin before all construction and finishing materials have been received and staged at the client site.
- Floor runners and doorway seals are installed to minimize tracking of dust and isolate the construction zone to the fullest extent possible.
- If needed, a temporary kitchenette is installed.
- Because it is fully planned in advance, the entire process for a kitchen remodel can be completed in 3-4 weeks.
Kitchen Makeover Case Study
A Lighter, Roomier Colonial Update
The Challenge
To update, open up, and shed natural light on our client's kitchen to create a warm, inviting space for family and entertaining.
"Our home is a colonial style, so we wanted to keep the same traditional look while updating all of the cabinets, appliances and amenities." - Ms. Laura Spatz, Homeowner
This well-maintained home had a kitchen that just didn't work for the Spatz family. The kitchen, family room, dining room and butler's pantry were separate rooms, making the spaces feel small, dark and uninviting as a gathering spot. They turned to Hatchett for a solution that would give them an open area for family and entertaining.
Visualizing The Space
One of the first tasks for Hatchett designers Jessica Whitbeck and Christy Adams was to help the client visualize the potential for their new space with three walls removed. Computer-generated perspectives and elevations provided much-needed support. With drawings for some basic layouts in hand, our designers were able to draw the client into the details.
Functional Beauty
While the Spatz's wanted an open floor plan, they did want to maintain separate functional areas within the space. To achieve these distinctions, Hatchett designed a custom buffet/television cabinet to beautifully divide the kitchen, family room, and dining room. The centerpiece of the kitchen is now a gorgeous, custom-designed hearth that surrounds the cooktop and functions as a hood.
With the layout and basic design features determined, Jessica and Christy worked with the client to make specific selections. The Spatz's were looking for warmth and color, which lead to selections of cherry cabinets, colorful granite countertops, and accent tiles and paints in warm beige and butterscotch.
I enjoyed working with Hatchett's design team. They did an outstanding job designing the space to fit our family's lifestyle. - Ms. Laura Spatz
